![]() What is fantasy? What is imagination? How does fantasy work in the human mind? Why is World of Warcraft more real than "real life" for some people? ![]() Poetry personification is a wonderful thing - as old as shamans dancing, "becoming" the bear, the horse, the eagle and in so doing, taking a different point of view, taking a different perspective, learning something important, having an amazing experience. Personification exercises are amongst the most interesting poetry exercises there are - by all means, have a go! This is mine today, I enjoyed writing it, and I hope you enjoy reading the personification poem "I am the wind" :-)
![]() For many years now, I have routinely recommended Laura Ingall's "Little House On The Prairie" as THE book to choose for people who want to learn to read properly - like a proper reader would, not sounding out words on a string but stepping into an alternate reality where you feel, see, hear and EXPERIENCE the story. The reason for this is that Laura Ingalls used to describe the world to her blind sister Mary and thus became an expert at "making the world come to life" for another person in as few words as possible. If, as a writer of poetry or a writer in general, you would like to make it easy for your readers to step into YOUR reality, then Laura Ingalls is the perfect model for this. Here is a simple poetry exercise based on Laura Ingalls and her unique experiences.
![]() This poetry exercise from 2003 has helped lots of people "get into the flow" of writing poetry that doesn't come from the thinking mind since it was first published. A very useful poetry exercise that goes way beyond "just writing poetry" and every time I do this, I am again and again amazed at the wonderful sensations that come when visions, feelings, images and energies simply stream into your mind, and through your fingertips onto the keyboard. Highly recommended!
![]() People who know how to play Project Sanctuary well have a huge competitive advantage when it comes to psychology and counselling -
... but they are also aware just how one EVOLVES the metaphor or as we prefer to call it, THE STORY, so that a person may experience a threshold shift. These are very valuable skills indeed under any circumstance, but especially so when it comes to Events Psychology memory enrichment, and of course, installation of "absent events" or missing events. Here is a wonderful example and case story about a man who thought "My father hates me ..."
![]() If we speak a poem about angels, does that draw the angels into your life? It has been said that to have angels helping a person in this life, the person has to take the first step and turn towards the angels ...
Look close, not far away for angels are amongst us they are right here, right now, there is an angel in the room ...

![]() This is bit of fun which came about as I went to a poetry forum which had a section for "wool gathering and strange ideas" - but there wasn't a single entry! How disappointing! I wanted to remedy the situation and make a post. At first I thought I might post about the ultraviolet beings but then instead, wrote this especially ... ..

![]() Forget for a moment all you thought you knew about "art". Let it all simply slide away, take a deep breath and let your mind fall back, right back through the times of you, the times of your ancestors, the times of men, all the way back and back and back through history until we arrive ...
These worlds, these kingdoms I have seen, they are not anywhere. There are not in this world, they are not even real, they are more like a dream come to life, or a nightmare .... Fantasy Fiction short story The Widest Sharing by StarFields
![]() The scene: One very basic wooden hut which contains a small fireplace, one window, a door, a small rough bed, plank floors. On the bed, we have a dishevelled man of about 30 years of age, long, untidy, greasy dark hair, stubble beard, curled up facing towards the wall with his arms around his shoulders. Sitting on the side of the bed, we have one child, 4 1/2 years old, with a puppy sleeping at her feet. She holds a plain metal cup which contains water and some bits of leaves she thought to add to make a healing soup for him. Outside, the afternoon is advancing.
![]() Telling stories is one thing, and writing them down so they become a "short story" or a "novella" or a "novel" is another thing altogether. I don't think I fully realised that until just now, and I think that is an important step forward. Writing for a living and being a story teller are quite distinct things. One the one hand, there is the format; fashions decide how a story should be "presented" to the "target market" and that reflects not only in the language used, and the word count aspired to, but also in many other ways onto the story, re-shapes it, makes it into this other thing. Being a story teller, one may free oneself from all of that.
![]() The story from Northold I want to share tonight is about a young man, the only son of a rich and aristocratic family, who was badly injured during birth, brain damaged through lack of oxygene we would suppose today.
