Poetry personification is a wonderful thing - as old as shamans dancing, "becoming" the bear, the horse, the eagle and in so doing, taking a different point of view, taking a different perspective, learning something important, having an amazing experience. Personification exercises are amongst the most interesting poetry exercises there are - by all means, have a go! This is mine today, I enjoyed writing it, and I hope you enjoy reading the personification poem "I am the wind" :-)

I am the wind.
I am the wisdom and the freedom, I am the storm that tears and howls, I am the whispering in the treetops, I slide beneath you, swirl around you, stroke your hair, and take your breath away.
I bring you change; I bring you hope, and though you might not know that I am even here, I hear you, and I take your sighs and smiles, enfold them, and the knowing carries forth within my soft embrace.
A traveller am I; I never rest, I never sleep, and yet I dream.
I dream of times so old that they would make you shudder; I dream of times to come.
I only know the sunshine and the mountains; I only know the oceans; I only know the creatures, beings old and new by name, and I know you, and I know you -
I am the wind.
